“It would be all too easy to refer to Cliffhangers as spoken word, or experimentation, although it is those things at times… but then it surprises you and transforms into something else… now a cute puppy, then suddenly a fire-breathing dragon.
It’s a walk through the main streets, but also the back alleys of existence … at times enlightened and at other times, sordid and dark. It’s a sketchbook, with all shades of light and dark. A midnight cruise through all walks of life. From the playfulness of “Pain in my Thorn” to the haunting necromancy of “Ghost Sex,” and the mesmerizing “Prayer for a Miracle,” it’s a beautiful bricolage of textures.
Though each piece embodies its own stylistic form and explores a different element of life, Cliffhangers still retains the thumbprint of its author, film composer Mader, who creates lush, filmy atmospheres that feel electrically charged, but spacious enough to get lost, if you want to. Electronic textures combine with well-placed exotic musical elements, from Chinese flutes to piano and film noir-like horns,… all of which give the music its eccentric flair.
Storytelling through sound, each piece channeling an abstract narrative of sorts, but with no endings or conclusions. It’s the perfect album to listen to when you want to forget your to-do list and wander the varying panoramas of human life”.
